Thousand Islands Bridge system links Ontario Canada to New York State, USA. The total distance is 13.6km and was first opened to traffic in 1938.

There are two main suspension bridges in the system. One 800 ft and the other is 750 ft. The images shown below were taken from the bridge that connects Ontario mainland to Hill Island (750 ft). It's a toll bridge but well worth the crossing just for the view out across the 1000 Islands region.

Options are to drive fairly slowly and take a look around or park the car for free at the Ontario Tourist Information Centre located on Hill island and walk over the bridge. The walkway is quite small and there is a small amount of vibration and movement when a 18 wheeler truck passes by which I thought adds to the excitement!

There is also a look out tower called the Skydeck located on Hill Island with an elevator to the top.

Prices as of July 2007:

Toll Bridge - $2.75 CA per car.

Skydeck - $8.95 CA per adult.
